Communal carpets take a significant amount of foot traffic and can quickly become stained, matted and unhygienic. Regular deep cleaning extends the life of the carpet and lifts the dust and allergens that vacuuming leaves in the pile.
This service is designed to complement our core communal block cleaning. Most property managers book it quarterly or twice a year alongside a regular weekly or fortnightly clean, but you do not need to be a block cleaning client to book it.
A communal carpet clean takes an escape route out of use for a while. Here is how we keep that short.
We use hot water extraction: cleaning solution is worked into the pile, then lifted straight back out with the soil it has loosened. It is the method that actually removes grit from the base of the pile rather than redistributing it, which matters on a communal stair where soil is ground in daily.
Solutions are COSHH-compliant and applied by trained, DBS checked operatives.
A communal stair cannot be closed off for a day. We work in sections so there is always a usable route, extract thoroughly so the carpet is left damp rather than wet, and put out wet floor signage while it dries.
Typical drying time is a few hours with reasonable ventilation, longer in a cold or enclosed stairwell. We schedule around the quietest part of the day for your block and agree the sequence with you before the visit.
We treat stains as part of the clean, and most traffic soil, spills and general greying come out. Some things will not, and we would rather say so before quoting than after cleaning:

Pricing is based on the carpeted area, the number of flights, the level of soiling and access. Stairs cost more per square metre than flat corridor: they are slower and have to be done tread by tread.
For most blocks a deep clean every six to twelve months is enough, provided the carpet is being properly vacuumed in between. If it is not, a deep clean is an expensive substitute for a regular block clean.
